Every bracket I fill out seems to have the Big (Huge?) East dominating this tournament. I realize this sounds insane, but I can see a scenario where somehow four Big East teams comprise the Final Four.
Let's break it down by seed; we have Syracuse as a 1, West Virginia and 'Nova as a 2, G-town and Pitt as 3's, Notre Dame and Marquette as a 6, and the 'Ville as a 9. Would you be surprised if any of these teams went all the way? I guess the casual fan doesn't see a Marquette or a Notre Dame as a Final Four option, but if you've seen them play and know their strengths I think they have what it takes. Not to mention that these teams beat up on each other all year long, so there will inevitably be a handful of good teams with some bad marks on their resume due to scheduling.
The crazy part is that there are some Big East teams that are money and didn't even make it to the Big Dance. UCONN had a huge choke job down the stretch. Cincy has the talent but due to the carnivore nature of the conference, they just lost too many games, albeit against quality teams. St. Johns wasn't quite ready this year, but they have a lot of upper classmen and should be back on the map next year.
My current bracket has G-town, West Virginia, and Notre Dame in the Final Four, but I wouldn't be surprised to see any combination of 4 of these teams still dancing in April.
